Students Awarded Goldwater Scholarships
Aaron Adcock and Jessica McCoury join a distinguished list of Texas Tech scholars awarded for their academic merit.

Texas Tech students, Aaron Adcock and Jessica McCoury are among the 321 scholars chosen to receive the nationally competitive Barry M. Goldwater Scholarship for the 2008-2009 academic year. The students were chosen from a competitive pool of more than 1,000 university nominees, based on academic merit.
The Goldwater Scholarship covers the costs of tuition and fees up to $7,500 for up to two years for students pursuing careers in mathematics, the sciences or engineering. Many of the Scholars have majors in more than one discipline.

Aaron AdcockAaron Adcock, a junior double-majoring in mathematics and electrical engineering, is from Heath, Ohio. He is actively involved in research projects in both fields and will graduate in May 2009. Aaron plans to work toward a Ph.D., and conduct research in either control theory or electromagnetic fields. |

Jessica McCouryJessica McCoury is a junior cell and molecular biology major originally from Albuquerque, New Mexico. She is currently conducting research on sonochemical degradation. After graduating in May 2009, Jessica plans to obtain a Ph.D. in cell biology and biochemistry, and eventually participate in international health research and education. |
Adcock and McCoury, both members of the Honors College, join 30 previous Texas Tech University Goldwater Scholars in their pursuit of academic and research excellence.
Previous Texas Tech University Goldwater Scholars have gone on to win such internationally competitive fellowships as the Gates Cambridge Scholarship and the National Science Foundation Graduate Research Fellowship.
