College of Engineering Receives $9 Million for Research

Funding will establish a first-class research team in the area of nanophotonics technology, placing Texas Tech at the head of the pack in the promising field.

The College of Engineering has received a $9 million package – $2 million from the Texas Emerging Technology Fund (TETF), $5.35 million from AT&T and a $2 million commitment from the university – to attract a team of world-class faculty researchers in the field of nanophotonics. [more]

After a decade of Dust Bowl winds whipping across the South Plains, Texas Technical College sat starkly, void of trees, shrubs and flowers. A professor of horticulture at the college looked across the barren campus in 1938 and an idea sparked. [more]
