In “Quarry,” a new mystery from Texas Tech University Press, the best way to make doctoral research more stressful is to add murder, abduction, mystery and suspense.

The third in her popular Frankie MacFarlane series, Susan Cummins Miller's new book follows the intrepid geologist as she tries to prepare for her doctoral dissertation defense. Matters are complicated when two members of her dissertation committee are attacked, one of them fatally. Meanwhile the case of her late fiancée is reopened, forcing Frankie to deal with the possibility that he may still be alive. On top of all that, one of her fellow students is abducted while working on a vertebrate fossil quarry in the Mojave Desert.

About the Author

Susan Cummins Miller worked as a field geologist with the U.S. Geological Survey and taught geology and oceanography before becoming a writer of fiction, nonfiction and poetry.
