Three Texas Tech Red Raiders were recently named to the AT&T All-Big 12 Conference football teams.

Joel Filani was named one of three wide receivers on the first-team, while Keyunta Dawson and Glenn January were both second-team selections.

Filani, a senior outside receiver from Phoenix garnered his second consecutive first-team all-conference honor after leading the Big 12 in receptions (80), yards (1,138), yards per game (94.8) and receiving touchdowns (12) during the regular season. His 12 receiving scores are the second highest single-season total in school history and he joined former Red Raider Wes Welker as the only two players to record 1,000 yards receiving in two different seasons after racking up1,048 in 2005.

For Dawson, today’s announcement marked his second-straight appearance on the all-conference team at defensive end. The Shreveport native finished second among all Big 12 defensive linemen with 58 tackles and led all conference defenders with three fumble recoveries in his final collegiate season. He also totaled a team-leading six sacks, giving him 19.5 for his career, the fourth-highest total in school history.

January, a senior from Houston, earned his first all-conference award after anchoring an offensive line that allowed the fewest sacks per pass attempt (1:34.8) in the Big 12 this season. The big left tackle started each of the team’s 12 regular season games, protecting sophomore quarterback Graham Harrell’s blindside, as a key cog in the conference’s top-ranked passing attack.

The Red Raiders had nine other players named to the Big 12’s Honorable Mention Team. Joe Garcia, defensive back; Harrell; Chris Hudler, defensive line; Manuel Ramirez, offensive line; Jake Ratliff, defensive line; Alex Reyes, punter; Brock Stratton, linebacker; Louis Vasquez, offensive line; and Shannon Woods, running back, were all chosen for that distinction.

The all-conference teams are voted on annually by each of the league’s coaches who are not permitted to vote for their own players.
