Aleesa Ross, Career Center Director in the College of Mass Communications

Aleesa Ross begins her second year at Texas Tech as Career Center Director in the College of Mass Communications. Ross, a graduate of Texas Tech University, returned to her alma mater in 2004 after her stint at Vanderbilt University as the Assistant Director of Student Media with Vanderbilt Student Communications, Inc. She is primarily responsible for assisting students with career planning. Ross helps students with their resumes and cover letters, with interview preparation, and their job and internship searches. Her office provides student workshops related to career preparation, hosts an annual Career Fair in the spring, and sponsors an Employer Panel where local professionals from each of the college’s majors come to answer questions for students. She also supervises all students who do for-credit internships through the College of Mass Communications.

While in college, she spent four years on the La Ventana yearbook staff and served as Editor-In-Chief in 1997.  Ross also spent a year as a reporter and copy editor for The University Daily.

Ross earned her bachelor’s degree in Journalism and English from Texas Tech. She is Fraternity Director of Chapter Development for Delta Gamma Sorority, working with their collegiate chapters across the country who need assistance with chapter operations.

A: Member of Delta Gamma; was vice-president: communications and programming.

Q: What is one of your fondest memories from your Texas Tech days?

A: There are so many! But, most of what comes to mind involves the
wonderful friends I made at Tech.

A: The Catcher in the Rye

A: The Goonies

Q: What are your interests/hobbies?
A:  Enjoy reading and spending time with my family

Q: What character trait do you value highly in an individual?
A:  Honesty

Q: If you could ask five or six people to your home for an evening, who would they be?
A: Chris Daughtry and Taylor Hicks from American Idol, John Cusack, Oprah Winfrey, Reese Witherspoon.
