Following the caged quetzal.
TTU Press
"Teresa’s Journey," by Josephine Harper and Jo Harper, is a sequel to the novel "Delfino’s Journey." Following the tradition of her brother Delfino, Teresa embarks on her own journey to find her brother and cousin. Teresa leaves her home in Mexico to travel to Texas in the hopes of providing her infant son, Antonio, with a better life. However, Teresa's journey is laced with adventure and danger. Forced to flee an erupting volcano, Teresa meets an old granicera - a prophetess - who warns her of a terrible fate awaiting her in Texas. In spite of her fear, Teresa is determined to reach her destination, especially once she witnesses a murder committed by a notorious group of outlaws, the Delgado Cruz. To save her baby and her life, Teresa must call upon her Aztec heritage and culture to unravel the meaning of the granicera's advice: "Follow the caged quetzal."
