Come early for the Carol of Lights and enjoy good parking and free food.
Written by Chad Elrod
Alumni Highlights
The Texas Tech Alumni Association will host the fourth annual Pre-Lighting Festival Nov. 30 prior to the Carol of Lights.
The event, which will begin at 5 p.m., will take place at the Frazier Alumni Pavilion, located just southwest of Jones AT&T Stadium. All Texas Tech alumni, students and members of the community are welcome.
The Pre-Lighting Festival will allow attendees of the Carol of Lights to come early, get a good parking space and enjoy free snacks and warm beverages all while enjoying the sounds of Christmas music. Santa Claus will also be present for pictures and to hear Christmas wishes.
The Marine Corps Reserve will be present to accept toys for the Toys for Tots program. In 2004, the Pre-Lighting Festival served as the South Plains’ largest drop-off location for the Toys for Tots program. The Marine Corps Reserves encourages new, unwrapped toys with a minimum $10 value.
The festival will also feature the raffle of a $1,000 scholarship donated by the Student Alumi Association Board of Directors. The recipient of the scholarship must be attending Texas Tech in the Spring 2008 semester to receive the award. Raffle tickets for the scholarship may be purchased for $1 at the Merket Alumni Center located at 17th and University, Monday through Friday, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Students will be able to purchase tickets at the Pre-Lighting Festival as well.
All present will have a chance to win door prizes from local merchants.
For more information on the Carol of Lights Pre-Lighting Festival or raffle tickets, contact: Sarah Klimek 806.742.3641 ext. 232.
