Sell Tapped to Represent Bush

Alumnus Clay Sell, with a delegation of three others, represented President Bush and America for freedom celebration in Malaysia.

Clay Sell

Texas Tech alumnus Clay Sell, with a delegation of three others, represented President Bush and America in Malaysia for their freedom celebration. In 1957 Malaysia gained its independence from British rule and on Aug. 31st, celebrated its 50- year anniversary. The celebration was held in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.

Sell was sworn in as the Deputy Secretary of Energy in 2005. Prior to his White House appointment, Sell was staff director and majority clerk of the U.S. Senate Energy and Water Development Appropriations Subcommittee. Before moving to Washington, Mr. Sell practiced law in Texas. He received his bachelor’s degree from Texas Tech in 1989.

Sell headed up the team of Christopher LaFleur, ambassador to Malaysia, Karan K. Bhatia, deputy of United States Trade Representative and Talal Eid, member of the United States Commission on International Religious Freedom to represent America at the celebration.
