Texas Tech University System Chancellor Kent Hance and his wife Susie hosted a reception for alumni in Ruidoso, N.M. in August.

Red Raiders from New Mexico and Texas stopped by the Inn of the Mountain Gods banquet hall to visit with the chancellor. He spoke one-on-one with the guests and gave a brief report to the group.

He talked about research into pulsed power and a bovine blood substitute as examples of things Texas Tech is doing in research. He emphasized the importance of eastern New Mexico to the system and the importance of raising more money for student scholarships.

Hance also mentioned the growth initiative to 40,000 students by 2020 and that students get more than an education at TTU, noting that they are prepared for life at Texas Tech.  He highlighted the successful Red-to-Black program that offers free financial planning and seminars to students as a prime example.
