Former Red Raiders Make Headlines
Wes Welker tied a Super Bowl record and was voted to his first AP All-Pro Team this year. The wide receiver finished his first season with the New England Patriots with 1,175 yards and eight touchdowns. He tied the Super Bowl record of 11 receptions in a single game in the Patriots’ 17-14 loss to the Giants in Super Bowl XLII.
Danny Amendola earned Offensive Player of the Game honors in the Texas vs. Nation game Feb. 2. Amendola, who just wrapped up his Texas Tech career, caught three passes for a game-high 71 yards and a touchdown as Team Texas beat Team Nation 41-14 in the 2008 Western Refining Texas vs. the Nation All-Star Game in the Sun Bowl in El Paso.
Spring Practice Schedule
Texas Tech Football will begin on-field preparations for the 2008 season March 26 when it conducts its annual spring drills on the practice fields at the Football Training Facility. In anticipation of the spring practice schedule, the team is currently undergoing an eight-week strength and conditioning period. More >>
2008 Football Schedule
Texas Tech adds Eastern Washington University to the 2008 schedule following Tulsa’s abrupt cancellation in January of a two-game series, originally scheduled over the next two seasons. The game will kickoff Aug. 30 at Jones AT&T Stadium.
Eastern Washington University, located in Cheney, Wash., finished the 2007 season with a 9-4 record after advancing to the first round of the FCS playoffs, where the Eagles dropped a narrow 38-35 loss to eventual national champion Appalachian State. EWU ranked eighth nationally in final polls.
