Texas Tech offensive tackle Rylan Reed helped the offensive line to hold Virginia's defensive end to four tackles and a quarterback hurry in the Gator Bowl Jan. 1.

Texas Tech offensive tackle Rylan Reed of Dallas was named to the ESPN All-Bowl Team for his efforts in the Red Raiders’ 31-28 Gator Bowl win over then-No. 20 Virginia, the network announced on its Web site.

Reed and his offensive line teammates held Virginia All-America defensive end Chris Long to four tackles and a quarterback hurry and limited one of the nation’s premier sacks specialists to no sacks. Reed also helped spring Aaron Crawford’s game-tying touchdown in the waning minutes of the game.

Reed also was named to the All-Mayday Team, selected by ESPN college football analyst Mark May. The team consists of student-athletes who have overcome hardship on or off the field, but have excelled athletically. Reed is a cancer survivor.
