The Official Texas Tech Class Ring Ceremonies

The Texas Tech Alumni Association held its Official Texas Tech Class Ring ceremonies for the spring semester.

Alumni Highlights

Official Class Ring

The Texas Tech Alumni Association held its Official Texas Tech Class Ring ceremonies for the spring semester. The ceremonies took place at the Frazier Alumni Pavilion, located southwest of Jones AT&T Stadium.

The event, co-hosted by the Student Alumni Association Board of Directors, began with refreshments at 6:30 p.m., followed by the ceremony at 7 p.m.

Monday night, April 26, Chancellor Kent Hance presented the rings and Robert Wernsman announced the ring recipients.

Tuesday, April 27, Dr. Michael Shonrock presented rings and Michelle Ogbeide, Student Alumni Board Vice President, announced the ring recipients.

A symbol of academic achievement, the Official Texas Tech Class Ring is a tradition brought back from the 1950s that will never change. In 1999, students, alumni and administrators collaborated to design a ring that will remain the same for the duration of Texas Tech’s existence.

Each ring captures the essence of Texas Tech with the Double T standing proudly on top, surrounded by the university’s full name and date of foundation.

The words “Strive for Honor” from “The Matador Song” can be found forged within each ring. This phrase serves as a reminder to each Texas Tech graduate to excel with integrity in all future endeavors.

Upon graduation, ring recipients turn their rings with the Double T facing outward, signifying graduating from Texas Tech and the beginning of their careers.

Portions of the proceeds from the Official Texas Tech Class Rings go to benefit First Generation Scholarships.
