NBA Recognizes Athletic Academic Services Office

Tech department receives one of five
Player Development Service awards.

Texas Tech is one of five institutions nationally to receive the National Basketball Associations Player Development Service Award.

Techs athletic academic services office was recognized for its A+ Raider Program, which includes lifelong educational skills for student-athletes through specific learning tools, time management strategies, tutorial services, educational evaluations, personal attention and learning disability services. All of these services and the measured outcomes were evaluated by the NBAs player development staff.

It is certainly an honor to receive this recognition, says Associate AD/Student Services John Anderson. It is a tribute to all our staff, coaches, tutors and mentors who work very hard to support the academic success of our student-athletes.

Tech received the honor over all institutions in region four, which is comprised of schools in Colorado, Kansas, Missouri, Nebraska, North Dakota, Oklahoma, South Dakota and Texas.

The four other institutions honored with the award are St. Johns University, the University of Kentucky, Purdue University and the University of Southern California.
