Distinguished Alumni Awards to Highlight Reunion Weekend

Between a round of pro/celebrity golf at the nationally acclaimed Rawls Course and a pigskin preview at Jones SBC Stadium, Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center will bestow accolades on 11 of its alumni during Reunion Weekend, set for Sept. 16-17.

Reunion Weekend gives us a special opportunity to recognize our alumni and the ways they continue to support the institution, says Health Sciences Center President M. Roy Wilson, M.D., M.S.

Reunion Weekend kicks off this year with the Welcome Back reception on Sept. 16 followed by the Distinguished Alumni Luncheon on Sept. 17. The Mac Davis Pro/Celebrity Golf Tournament, an event that brings Lubbock native Mac Davis home and attracts other pro golfers and celebrities, is a precursor to the Friday events. The golf tournament is held at the Rawls Course, located just north of the Health Sciences Center.

Saturday, the Distinguished Alumni Luncheon will be held in honor of this years award winners (see list below). This year, the number of alumni honored has increased in each of the schools allowing for greater recognition of the many accomplishments and dedication these individuals make to the schools.

Weekend events culminate Saturday night with the Texas Tech vs. Sam Houston State football game and activities in the Depot District.

Reunion Weekend was established to provide alumni with an opportunity to see the changes at Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center and to reminisce with fellow classmates and faculty about their experiences at the school.
