Tech Law School Grads Make Top Showing on Bar Exam

The Texas Tech School of Law led all Texas public law schools with a 91.01 passing percentage on the July 2005 bar examination. The average first-time exam pass rate for all nine law schools in Texas on the July exam was 80 percent.

Texas Tech and Baylor University were the only Texas law schools to exceed a pass rate of 90 percent on the examination.

School of Law Dean Walt Huffman said that the high pass rate on the July exam, which follows a first-place pass rate on the February exam, reflects the quality of Texas Tech Law and the attorneys it produces.

“These excellent results again validate the quality of the legal education at Texas Tech,” he said. “We’re very proud of our newly licensed graduates and the outstanding faculty that prepared them.”

Texas Tech University law school students garnered the highest passing rate in the state for first-time takers on the state bar exam for February 2005, according to the Texas Board of Law Examiners.
