Texas Tech: From here, it's possible

Texas Tech is launching a new public relations campaign to increase the visibility of Texas Tech’s academic and research accomplishments throughout the state and nation. While it is an educational powerhouse in West Texas, research has shown that Texas Tech’s reputation among Texans outside our region rests mainly with the Red Raider sports teams.

Texas Tech Regent Windy Sitton says it best: “Being in the Big 12 and having a reputation as a sports power is a real asset for us. But higher education is increasingly competitive. If Texas Tech wants to continue to attract the best students, highly accomplished faculty and the large donations that are the lifeblood of state universities these days, we need to enhance our academic reputation throughout the state and nation.”

Enter the visibility campaign with the slogan, “From here, it’s possible.” Texas Tech has been getting its house in order so that when folks take a look, they’ll be impressed. Soon to be gone is the confused cacophony of hundreds of logos, replaced with an attractive new unified academic symbol. March 1, impressive new websites will launch. Soon, 50 top Texas Tech campus and alumni leaders will fan out across the state to give presentations about Texas Tech’s academic accomplishments to opinion leader organizations and Texas Tech alumni and parent groups.

Lubbock Regent Mark Griffin says that “the most obvious proof of Texas Tech’s contribution to the state rests in the impressive successes of its thousands of alumni.”

We encourage you to participate in the “From here, it’s possible” Contest, whose purpose is to collect stories about the successes and accomplishments of Texas Tech’s alumni, faculty, students and staff. These stories will be used on websites and in marketing materials. Contest winners will receive box seat tickets to football and basketball games, Texas Tech University Press books, student scholarships and will be feted at a “From here, it’s possible” party in April.

Visit the contest website at www.possible.texastech.edu. Let’s all participate in the contest and let the rest of the world know that “From here, it’s possible.”
