Chris Cook
Managing Director of Communications & Marketing
Following 11 years in the media relations office of the athletic department, Chris hung up his cleats and moved across campus to the Texas Tech Office of Communications and Marketing in May 2010. As the new director of communications, Chris will oversee the publicity efforts of a talented communications office and serve as university spokesperson.
Upon graduation from Louisiana Tech University in 1993, Chris, uncertain of where his yet-to-be-started career would take him, eventually landed at the doorstep of Western Kentucky University where he spent a year as an intern in the sports information office.
After covering 11 sport programs and enduring numerous long bus rides, Chris found his way to Saint Louis University as an assistant sports information director. In addition to covering six sport programs and fighting tooth and nail to get coverage in a competitive metropolitan media market, he also learned the definition and origin of the Billiken.
Five years after seeing the Gateway Arch for the first time, Chris began an 11-year run in the Texas Tech athletics department, moving up from associate director of media relations to assistant athletics director for media relations in less than two years. During his decade-plus, he oversaw the publicity efforts for the Red Raider football and golf programs, both of which have risen to national prominence.
A self-proclaimed 80s music expert, and Parrothead since 1989, Chris enjoys playing golf and being with his family. He and his, wife of 14 years, Jennifer, have a four-year-old son, Jack, who gets what he wants, therefore, making Chris third in the household.
