John Davis

Senior Staff Writer

John Davis

The newcomer on the staff, John Davis has built up a reputation for always having some sort of joke or bawdy comment ready, no matter what the situation.

The thespian of the group and comedian till the end, John helped pay for his candy addiction by working as an actor in Tulsa, Fort Worth and Lubbock. He has played many diverse and interesting roles over the course of his career, including Algernon Moncrief in the “Importance of Being Earnest”, Scrooge in “A Christmas Carol”, Garry Lejeune in “Noises Off” and a trans-gendered prostitute named Suzy in “Hot’L Baltimore.” John has performed mostly live theatre, but does have some film and television experience.

John says he’s “got an iron in everybody’s fire,” but what he means by that is anyone’s guess. After graduating from Texas Tech in 2000 with a degree in print journalism, John landed a job working for the Lubbock Avalanche-Journal. He has won Associated Press Managing Editor Awards in Texas and New Mexico.

John’s favorite cereal is Frosted Lucky Charms. As if he needs more sugar.

John’s beats consist of the College of Arts & Sciences, College of Mass Communications, College of Visual and Performing Arts, Honors College, Outreach and Extended Studies and Texas Tech Museums.
