Ceramics Student Receives Research Grant for Electronic Media

Nicolle LaMere received a $2,000 creative research grant from NCECA (National Council on the Education of Ceramic Arts) in February for her proposal to focus on research that will further her understanding of how electronic media (ie. video, sound, light-works, kinetics) relate to contemporary ceramics as well as how the implementation of these external influences and processes might inform her artistic practice. The main objective of the research, which will take place during summer 2015) is to deconstruct her creative process to gain a greater understanding of her current body of ceramic work while incorporating new elements such as sound, projected images, and kinetics.
