Remembering an individual's legacy honors a life well-lived. Jean Brashear Nichols, a researcher and farmer whose land adjoined the Texas Tech New Deal Farm, lost her life January 30, 2005, in an automobile accident traveling with Texas Tech researchers Cliff Fedler and Nick Parker to Colorado, Jean was a voice for educational-community partnerships in agriculture.
Nick Parker spoke very fondly of her, "She brought sensitivity to the status of women in the agricultural community. Jean's energy, spirit, financial support, participation and presence were valuable assets to the program. Jean will be missed by everybody in women's studies."
