The research project funding is only for United States citizens or US permanent residents. Women and underrepresented minority undergraduate students are encouraged to apply.
- Technical Skills:
Applicants must be enrolled in an undergraduate computing degree program or related major with at least one year of courses taken within the program of study. Applicants must be proficient in at least one computer programming language.
An application constitutes a commitment that, if selected, the student will be available to participate in the REU site project during the period from May 29, 2014 – August 6, 2014. This commitment means that non−residents will live on the Texas Tech University campus and all selected participants will work full time (40 hours/week) on the research project for the entire duration of the project.

The application must be submitted through Google Documents. Apply online at:
- A Recommendation Letter:
A letter of recommendation from a faculty member should be sent through email, mail, or fax.
- A Transcript from your Current Institution:
While official transcripts are preferred, unofficial ones are accepted (by February 28, 2014). An electronic version of the transcript will also be accepted. When an unofficial transcript is sent, a selected applicant will have their university forward an official transcript by April 15, 2014.
Selected REU project participants will work collaboratively on a project with one or two other students. In the application form, a preference must be provided for two projects. The description for each project is located on the Projects page.
