Application Process

1. Visit www.applytexas.org.
   • Reactivate/update your Texas Common Application and re-submit an application to Texas Tech University as a transfer student.
   • Due to the required face-to-face meetings, only applicants residing in the Dallas/Ft. Worth area will be considered for admission into the program.
2. Visit www.fafsa.ed.gov.
   • Add the Texas Tech University School Code: 003644.

3. Visit www.ttu.edu/admissions.

   • Complete the application process as outlined by Texas Tech University's Office of Undergraduate Admissions.

4. Activate your eRaider Username.

5. Contact Dr. Dora Salazar ( dora.salazar@ttu.edu or 806.742.1998, ext. 480) to notify her of your intent to apply to the program.
   • Due to the time constraints of the admissions cycle at Texas Tech University, it is important that you apply as soon as possible.
6. Visit the Application for the Texas Tech Educator Preparation Program.
   • Complete and submit the Teacher Education Program application.
   • Upon acceptance to the program, contact Jerry Perez (jerry.j.perez@ttu.edu, 806.742.1998, ext. 442) to register for classes.

Degree Plan Requirements 123-132 semester hours

Lower Division General Course Requirements - 66 semester hours (required at the community college level)

The following general course requirements for an Associate of Arts in Teaching (AAT) may be fulfilled at a community college. In the Dallas area, Texas Tech has a lower-division articulation agreement with Dallas County Community College District. Credits and courses from other institutions will also be considered during the admissions process and rated for equivalency. The requirements to complete an AAT may vary by community college.

Teach Education Program - 57-66 semester hours (required courses that will be taken online)

Students will need to have successfully completed most of the general course requirements at a community college before applying to Texas Tech University. Only courses with a grade of C or better will be accepted by Texas Tech University for the B.S. in Multidisciplinary Studies. A GPA of 2.7 is required for admission to the teacher education program

Financial Aid

For information on financial aid opportunities, visit the Office of Financial Aid.

There is a federally-funded TEACH (Teacher Education Assistance for College and Higher Education) Grant Program for students who intend to teach in schools that serve students from low-income families for at least four years and are seeking certification in high-need teaching fields. Teacher candidates in high need areas (Bilingual and ESL, Foreign Language, Mathematics, Reading Specialist, Science, and Special Education) with a cumulative GPA of 3.25 may be eligible for grants up to $4,000/year. This program is administered through the Office of Financial Aid. Learn more about the TEACH Grant Program.

A consortium agreement will allow you to use your financial aid at both your local community college and Texas Tech University concurrently. For information and assistance with establishing a consortium agreement, contact Anita Malone in the Office of Financial Aid.
