Wind Energy Certificate Program
Our certificate in wind energy offers professionals post-baccalaureate level training options in six topic areas relevant to the industry. You may choose to take individual courses or complete five of the six offerings and obtain a professional certificate in wind energy. The program has been specifically designed for non-technical professionals who wish to assume managerial responsibilities in wind energy.
Program Overview
All courses have been developed by expert faculty from the TTU Wind Science and Engineering Research Center (WISE). Each course equals 38 clock hours of instruction and may be completed independently within a four to six week time frame.
You may choose individual courses to meet your needs or work towards obtaining a Professional Certificate in Wind Energy. To qualify for the certificate, you must first complete the required course – Advanced Managerial Wind Energy – and then complete four of the five elective courses. Note: Participants with no background in Wind Energy are encouraged to take the introductory course “Wind Energy 101” and then enroll in the certificate program.

Application Process
- Apply to Texas Tech University's Graduate School as a GCRT student. Indicate that your primary location code is
"distance" if you plan to pursue the certificate online and Lubbock if you plan to attend courses in person.
- Complete the Graduate Admissions Application form.
- The Application Fee is $100 for U.S. residents and international applicants.
- Students pursuing a master's degree must submit Graduate Record Exam (GRE) scores to the Graduate School.
- International students: you must also submit a Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL) score to the Graduate School.
- Contact the Wind Energy Graduate Advisor to determine if you should enroll in the Technical or Managerial certificate.
- Apply for financial aid and/or scholarships.
- Upon acceptance into the Graduate School, complete the Graduate Certificate Program Plan form before the second semester of enrollment in the program, and submit the form to the Wind Energy Graduate Advisor for approval. If you receive a letter of rejection, you may contact the Associate Dean of Graduate Education and Research, 806.742.1998, ext. 436, for advisement regarding the admissions appeals process.
