Program Overview
Texas Tech Teacher Education Program consists of 123-126 credit hours of undergraduate courses with a specialization in English as a Second Language (ESL), Bilingual Education or Special Education.
Graduates are prepared to become certified as elementary teachers who can seve the needs of ESL, bilingual, or special education students, in accordance with the graduate's area of specialization.
Students enroll in a community college, successfully complete the lower division coursework required for an Associate of Arts in Teaching(66 credit hours) and then transfer to Texas Tech University. Upper division coursework(57-60 credit hours) will be offered through Texas Tech University at Highland Lakes, Texas Tech University at Fredericksburg, or Texas Tech University Center at Junction.

This program is a partnership between community colleges and Texas Tech University's College of Education and the Bilingual Education and Diversity Studies Program.
Upon succesful completion of all degree requirements abd passing scores on state certification exams, graduates will be certified as wlementary teachers with a supplemental certificate in ESL. Student shave the option of taking the bilingualcoursework for the supplemental certificate in bilingual education.

Program Delivery
Classes are delivered using one or a combination of formats, including web-based, interactive video conferencing (IVC) and face-to-face instruction. Weekend intensive classes, some travel, and field-based experiences are required.
