Yes, you may take up to 12 credit hours of coursework as a Graduate Temporary (GTMP) student before being admitted into a specific program. However, successful completion of coursework as a GTMP does not guarantee admission into a program. Once you have submitted an application for a specific study objective such as master's degree, it can take approximately six to eight weeks for the entire process to be complete with a final decision. If you feel your application may not be processed in time for the semester you requested, you may apply to be admitted as GTMP for the requested semester. To apply for Graduate Temporary status after applying to a program, you may access the
"Request to Change Current Study Objective".
You will fill in your current study objective (master's or doctoral degree), checking YES, you wish to complete this objective. Fill in the semester you wish to begins as GTMP and check the Graduate Temporary (GTMP) box under the Non-degree option. Complete the form and mail or fax it to the Graduate Admissions office. (Contact information must be submitted for each semester you wish to attend as a GTMP. Provided you have not already completed 12 hours of coursework, you will be permitted to continue to register as GTMP.
