Application Process

Although there is no application deadline, potential students are encouraged to submit all application materials at least three months prior to projected initial enrollment.

1. Apply to Texas Tech University's Graduate School as a master's student. When selecting a major, be aware that there are multiple entries for each, and it is important that you choose the entry that corresponds with your location or delivery method.
   • Complete the Graduate Admissions Application.
     • The application fee is $100 for U.S. residents and $100 for international applicants.
     • Students pursuing a master's degree must submit Graduate Records Exam (GRE) scores and transcripts from all universities previously attended to the Graduate School. GRE scores must be less than five years old at the time of application.
     • International students must also submit a Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL) score to the Graduate School. Scores must be less than two years old at the time of application. Learn more.
2. Interview with the Program Coordinator.
   • The interview can be conducted either in person or by phone.
3. If you are pursuing an emphasis in Principal Professional Certification Preparation, you must also apply to the College of Education. Contact Dr. Joe Claudet (joe.claudet@ttu.edu) for information on this process.
4. Apply for financial aid and/or general scholarships.
   • Financial aid is distributed based on full-time enrollment and several other eligibility requirements. Your enrolled hours as of the 12th day of class in the fall and spring semesters determines your enrollment status for the semester, and financial aid is disbursed accordingly. 5. Upon acceptance to the Graduate School and the College of Agricultural Sciences and Natural Resources, you will work with a Graduate Advisory Committee composed of three members to develop a degree plan.
   • Texas Tech University will notify you of your admissions status by updating the Applications tab in your Raiderlink.

Most courses are offered online; however, courses required for the Principal Professional Certification Preparation emphasis must be taken at TTU at Fredericksburg, TTU at Highland Lakes, TTU Center at Junction, or the Lubbock campus.

*The TTU Principal Professional Certification Program is a 42 credit hour program which fully incorporates this 36 credit hours Master’s of Agriculture Degree. This program prepares students interested in pursuing careers as elementary or secondary school principals in Texas. Students seeking Principal Professional Certification must have at least two years of Texas Education Agency (TEA)-approved experience and apply for admission into the certification program during the first semester of enrollment in this program. For school Principal Professional Certification, students must complete six credit hours of EDLD 5392-Principal Internship beyond this 36 credit hour master’s program. Students must also complete Instructional Leadership Development (ILD) and Professional Development and Supervision (PDAS) training at a Texas Regional Education Service Center (equivalent to 3 credit hours). SBEC’s School Principalship TExES examination must also be passed.
