Mini University Day
Mini-University Day is a program for students in grades K-5. The program plants the seed of college into the minds of small children, and it illustrates college as a viable option. The program aims to get the children excited about college by discussing what college is and based upon availability, the TTU Spirit Squad will attend.
Teens of the Month
The Office of Community Engagement sends rewards to the Teens of the Month for their significant achievement. The packets included a coupon from Mr. Gatti’s Pizza works, Texas Tech University certificate of achievement, and a one-day-pass to the Texas Tech University Recreational Center.
College Readiness
A program for students in 6th-12th grade that provides an insight on what to expect in college and how to prepare for college. The program assists students in the transition process from high school to college. In addition, the program provides a student panel that consists of college student volunteers to answer questions from the students. This program is tailored to each grade level.
Reality Check
A program specially designed for students in 6th-12th grade. Reality Check is similar to the Game of Life where the students are given a career, a budget, and a family. Each student is given the opportunity to buy child care, food, clothes, transportation, etc., on a budget depending on their chosen occupation. The idea is that this will help bring to reality that Life is not a Game, and show that higher education is necessary. Reality Check is no longer dependent on volunteers and we encourage those to check out our new Mobile Reality Check.
Red Raider Scavenger Hunts
Red Raider Scavenger Hunts are specially designed for grades 3rd - 8th. This is a fun way for your students to become familiar with the Texas Tech University campus by searching for campus landmarks. Each Scavenger Hunt begins at West Hall and lasts from 45 minutes to 1 hour. In addition, the program provides a student panel that consists of college student volunteers to answer questions from the students.
At this time we are unable to provide Scavenger Hunts to 3rd grade or below. For 3rd grade and below classes, we recommend that you take the self-guided iWalk Texas Tech tour or self-guided map tour. You can find more information about the self-guided tours at: http://www.admissions.ttu.edu/wp-content/uploads/2011/12/walking_tour_web.pdf

Campus Tours will be accompanied with the College Readiness Program to provide your group with a worthwhile and beneficial campus experience. We will work with your organization to facilitate a tour, but space is limited and granted on a first-come, first-serve basis.
