Hispanic Convocation
The Raiders Rojos Hispanic Graduation Convocation is an annual event that celebrates the current graduation of Hispanics from Texas Tech University and Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center as well as honors distinguished Hispanic alumni. In 2007, about five hundred guests including family members, community leaders, faculty, and administrators joined the graduates in celebrating this great milestone. The event included festive music by Mariachi Nueva Generacion, a tribute to all the mothers, a keynote by Dr. Jorge Iber, Chair, History Department, and individual recognition of each graduate. Dr. RoxAnn Dominguez, PharmD, was honored as 2007 Distinguished Alumna, and the Art and Alice Chavez family received the Distinguished Alumni Family award. Recipients of this award are honored for their commitment to higher education and must have two generations of Tech graduates within the family.
