American Indian Heritage Month
In November, Texas Tech faculty, staff and students join with others throughout the country to embrace and celebrate American Indian Heritage Month. Events include the 2006 presentation by well known American Indian actor Wes Studi (film Geronimo), the 2007 presentation by Comanche Nation College President Kim Winkelman, presentations by Texas Tech faculty, and presentations by individuals from the Lubbock community. In addition a book drive was held for the Comanche Nation College library and various Tech departments hosted demonstrations of sacred American Indian ceremonies as well as art and dance exhibitions.
