As a major comprehensive, research-based business school with a wide variety of programs, the Rawls College of Business Administration:
- Educates and develops our students for positions of leadership in Texas and the global marketplace;
- Emphasizes partnerships with other Texas Tech units and external parties to provide educational and research opportunities for students and faculty and to provide benefits to our external stakeholders;
- Provides service to our educational and professional communities; and
- Advances knowledge through research by the faculty and students.
The Jerry S. Rawls College of Business Administration continues to develop a more global curriculum. The College continues to increase overseas study opportunities for its students. The College is committed to the success and retention of diverse students as well as to encouraging diversity within our academic community. Approximately 25 percent of graduate students and 15 percent of undergraduates come from diverse backgrounds. Our commitment is illustrated through innovative programs, including:
- Mother-Daughter Program. Co-implemented with the colleges of Education and Human Sciences and the Lubbock Independent School District, the program strives to increase the number of college-bound youth, especially among Hispanic and African American populations.
- Forum for Leadership Excellence. While open to all academically ambitious business undergraduates, the program focuses on students from underrepresented populations. The program pairs undergrads with MBA students to develop a service-based community activity. Program partners include Rawls Career Management Center, Institute for Leadership Research and Texas Tech’s Cross-Cultural Academic Advancement Center, with financial support from Target Corporation.
