February 16th, 2006:
The team attracts attention from three local news stations and two newspapers with the handover of a $7000 travel stipend from the Texas Tech Challenge X Team mentor.
October 13th, 2005:
The team participated in this year's Tech Prep on at the Civic Center in Lubbock where we introduced high school students and Lubbock residents to the projects that at our Advanced Vehicle Laboratory specifically our involvement in Challenge X.
June 22nd, 2005:
The TTU team was on the cover story of the Daily Toreador University paper.
June 19th, 2005:
KDBC News Channel 11 covered the team's participation for the first year of competition.
June 5th - 9th, 2005: The Texas Tech University participated in the first year competition. The AVE team participated in two sponsored awards, one for The MathWoks and obtained 3rd place, the second sponsor award was for National Instruments where the AVE team won 1st place. In the overall competition the AVE team placed 6th place. April 30th, 2005: The TTU AVE team participated in the Electrical Engineering's Demo Day, where students form the department demonstrate to the community the projects that were completed during the semester.
April 27th, 2005:
Texas Tech University in conjunction with Lubbock Economic Development Alliance (LEAD) organized a Tech Day at the Advance Vehicle Engineering Lab.
February 26th, 2005:
The team participated in the Engineering week presentation in the Science Spectrum. The AVE team participated in the event by providing information on Challenge X and explaining our past projects.
February 19th, 2005:
The AVE team participated in an outreach activity with the Upward Bound Programs on the Texas Tech campus.
February 2nd, 2005:
A tour of the facilities to a group of students for GROUNDHOG SHADOW DAY They took part of a small presentation of each room of our lab and viewed a presentation.
November 15th, 2004:
Meet with Lubbock Economic Development Alliance (LEDA), for initial talks on outreach activities.
November 12th, 2004:
The Texas Tech University participated in an outreach activity to promote our AVE department and the competition. The outreach activity involved elementary students. Additional information is available in our outreach section.
November 5th, 2004:
The Texas Tech University recently had a visit from our team mentor form GM. The visit consisted in presentations during the morning and a facilities tour in the afternoon. Pictures of the visit are available in the media section.
- The presentations consisted in providing information on where the team is headed for the ChallengeX competition. Several architectures were discussed after the presentation.
- The facilities tour consisted on safety and maintenance of the Advanced Vehicle Engineering Lab (AVEL) and further discussion of possible ideas on improving the facility as well as, the team's plan for the ChallengeX competition.
