Welcome to the Department of Economics and Geography home page. From this page you can access information concerning our undergraduate and graduate programs in both Economics and Geography. Our department is part of the College of Arts and Sciences at Texas Tech University. Texas Tech University was founded in 1923 and enrolled its first student in the fall of 1925. The university is a state-supported, coeducational institution comprising the instructional colleges of Agricultural Sciences, Arts and Sciences, Business Administration, Education, Engineering, and Home Economics, the School of Law, the Graduate School, and a number of special departments and divisions. The 61st Legislature of the State of Texas authorized the creation of the Texas Tech University School of Medicine as a separate educational institution. |

The University campus, a contiguous tract of 1,839 acres, lies at the western edge of the business section of the city.
University buildings number 224 including the Lubbock campus, Junction campus, Pantex campus, agricultural field laboratories at
New Deal, and satellite medical facilities at Amarillo and El Paso. Also noteworthy is the fact that University Library is one of two Regional Depositories for U.S. Government Documents in Texas. The Checklist of United States Public Documents, 1787-1970, contains bibliographic Data on more than two million U.S. Government Publications. The Library of Congress Presidential Papers Program is complete and available on microfilm. The University also provides extensive computing resources for students, faculty, and staff for use on approved projects in the areas of instruction, research, and administration. Academic Computing Services maintains and operates mainframe systems, as well as an extensive network of PCs and Macs. In addition, the department maintains networked PCs available for the exclusive use of graduate students. We hope you enjoy perusing our web site.
