I am an enthusiastic and committed teacher with over 25 years of experience filled with teaching at all levels from elementary to the university level. From teaching science to teaching university methods courses, I have found that all levels have their challenges and their rewards.  Additionally, my experience as a school district principal, migrant school teacher, district recruiter for hiring new teachers, staff development presenter, classroom management specialist, learning styles presenter, and most recently, lesson observer and evaluator  for teacher candidates have further enhanced my work with students and demonstrate that I am a life-long learner.  Quality instruction for ALL is my hallmark focus from creating a community of learners to instruction that meets the learning needs of all students. My TECH teach pre-service teachers are now successful teachers in almost every school in the Lubbock area including Lubbock ISD, Cooper and Friendship ISD as well as schools in the Dallas Fort Worth area, San Antonio, Austin, and the Houston area.  It is always rewarding to have students step out of their classrooms to say “hello” and comment on things they learned and are now using in their own classrooms.  Even more exciting is that these former student teachers now have student teachers of their own and are passing along the TECH Teach Skills.

I specialize in classroom management, learning styles, and quality teaching that I share  through workshops, professional organizations, and even Children Ballet Lubbock. As a side note, my experiences as a school principal and district recruiter have provided insights to assist students in preparing for job interviews and “securing the job of their dreams.”  And finally, my experience with TECH Teach has taught me to be a quality lesson evaluator and remediation specialist as I work with students teacher candidates.  Through video capture and classroom observation, I have helped students learn to analyze their own teaching strategies and how to improve their own skills through collaborative evaluation and cooperative planning. I proudly say, “I am a teacher.”

Although my professional life has been dedicated to teaching, I can always find time to see the beauty in the world through travel in the United Stated and other countries as well and documenting these travels through photography. I have photographed the snows of Kilimanjaro and to the majesties of the Andes; the fascinating Galapagos Islands and the history of Israel; the Great Barrier Reef of Australia and ancient ruins of Italy; the Sphinx of Egypt and simple shots of my own back yard. The mountains bring inspiration and regeneration to my spirit and refresh my life for the challenges ahead.
