Dr. Laura Brown is a Lubbock native and excited to be working in the community she was raised in. She completed her Bachelor's degree in psychology at Brigham Young University-Idaho and then moved to Denton, TX where she completed certification requirements to become a teacher. She spent 8 years working with individuals with disabilities and completed a Master's degree in special education with graduate certificates in autism and ABA from Texas Tech University while working full-time as a special education teacher. She moved back to Lubbock in 2013 and began work toward a Ph.D. During her Ph.D. studies, she completed coursework and became certified to be an educational diagnostician in the state of Texas. Her experience in higher education began in 2014 when she taught adjunct courses for the Teacher Education Department at Texas Tech. She became a full-time instructor for the program in January of 2017. She completed her Ph.D. in special education in May of 2018 and spent a year as a Post-Doctoral Fellow with the Texas Tech University College of Education Teacher Education Department. Dr. Brown is excited to be a professor of practice where she will continue preparing individuals to work with students with disabilities and ensure they receive the education and services they need in order to be successful.
