Julio Pacheco returns to Texas Tech's eLearning team after six months with the Center of Distance Education at the University of Texas at Arlington. During his time at UTA, Julio worked on a variety of course development projects for the higher education community. Julio also has two certifications with Quality Matters: Applying the QM Rubric and Peer-Review Course. Prior to working with UTA, Julio participated in key projects with TTU eLearning: utilizing the Sunny Online Course Quality Review Rubric (OSCQR) to certify higher education online courses; collaborating with higher education faculty to evaluate and enhance the development and delivery of online, hybrid, and web-enhanced courses; and, facilitating the emergency transition of F2F courses to virtual learning environments during the COVID-19 pandemic.

Julio has 20 years of experience in education at the K-12 and higher education levels in both the United States and Brazil. He earned a baccalaureate degree in physical education at one of South America's premier institutions, Universidade Federal de Santa Catarina, followed by a Master of Education in Instructional Design and Technology at Arkansas Tech University.

For two decades, Julio has combined his skills in education with his passion for basketball as a collegiate and high school coach domestically and abroad. He was honored in 2015 to have been the first Brazilian national to be appointed to a head coaching position at the NCAA level.

Born in São Paulo, Brazil, he is married to Christine, and together they are the proud parents of Gillyan and Isabella.

Julio enjoys spending time with his family and three dogs, traveling together, and experiencing new things. They also spend time skiing, going to the beach, hiking, and doing other outdoor activities.
