Portfolio FAQs

1. How can I access Portfolio?

To access Portfolio, you must have access to Blackboard.

  1. From the My Institution tab, go to the Tools menu.
  2. Click on the Portfolios link to go to the My Portfolios page.

2. Do I need to be in a course to access Portfolio?

No. All you need is access to Blackboard.

3. How can students take their Portfolio with them before they graduate?

When students graduate they will no longer have access to Blackboard and to their portfolios. However, students can download their portfolio(s) and save to their personal computer or portable storage device before graduation.

  1. From the My Portfolios page, click More on your portfolio and then Download.
  2. When the Download screen appears, click the Download icon or the Click to download Portfolio link. The portfolio will download as a zip file.
  3. Extract all the files to a folder on your computer or storage device and click the index.html file to launch the portfolio.

4. How can faculty/instructors request a Portfolio template?

Portfolio templates provide a pre-built structure for students and is used to give specific instructions to students about what information should be included in the Portfolio. If you would like to create a template, fill out the Portfolio Template Request Form, and email the form to blackboard@ttu.edu with the subject line "Portfolio Template Request". We will review the template and provide feedback, if necessary. The IT Information Technology Support group (ITTS) will build the template in Blackboard. This will typically take 48 hours, but could take up to 3 business days, so plan accordingly. After the build, you will get a chance to review and sign off on the template.

5. How does the "Comments are Private" setting work?

When the Comments are Private box is checked:

  • only the owner of the portfolio and the author of the comment will be able to view the comment
  • other users will not be able to view the comments
  • only the owner of the portfolio and author of a comment can delete the comment
  • the owner of the portfolio can view all comments

When the Comments are Private box is unchecked:

  • all users who have access to the portfolio can view all comments
  • the owner of the portfolio can delete all comments
  • the owner of the portfolio can view all comments
  • the author of a comment can only delete their comment
