Text alone, even with pictures or clip art, can't deliver the nuances of expression and emotion that the human voice can bring. The VoiceThread website allows instructors and students to connect on a new level, adding a sense of community to a course. Using voice, video, pictures, and text, a virtual discussion board can be made and ideas passed along in many creative ways.

A simple interface allows uploading of media from YouTube, Flickr, Facebook, websites, or the user's computer, then comments are added via microphone, webcam, keyboard or audio file.
