Catching Up with Collin

Texas Tech University at Collin Higher Education Center

by Timothy Howard

With many unique regional teaching sites located across the state, Texas Tech University offers one-of-a-kind learning experiences outside the City of Lubbock. Texas Tech University at Collin Higher Education Center located at the Collin Higher Education Center in McKinney, TX makes it possible to earn a TTU degree while living in the metroplex.

The month of October brought many exciting events and opportunities to the site. TTU at Collin held many transfer student fairs in October, where staff spoke with prospective students about how they could earn a Texas Tech degree while leveraging the courses they had already taken elsewhere. The fairs were held at several of the community colleges throughout the Dallas area including the Collin College campuses.

In addition to these fairs, TTU at Collin also participated in a special transfer fair with other university partners including Texas Women's University, University of North Texas, The University of Texas at Dallas and Texas A&M Commerce. Students that attended were able to help themselves to cookies, meet the TTU at Collin staff and gain a more in-depth understanding about how TTU at Collin could help them achieve their goals without having to leave the Dallas area.

On October 29, staff and students from the Collin and Waco regional sites showed their Red Raider pride by supporting the TTU Football team at their game against TCU in Fort Worth. Students got to meet the TTU cheerleading team—site directors Jameshia Granberry (Collin) and Lewis Snell (Waco) even posed for a photo with Texas Tech cheer coach Bruce Bills! TTU won the game 27-24 in double-over time – an exciting game TTU students will remember for some time to come.

TTU at Collin Site Director Jameshia Granberry and Academic Advisor/ Recruiter Andi West worked diligently throughout the month to make these events possible. Due to their hard work, there are many exciting opportunities still on the horizon for TTU at Collin and its students.
