Summer 2017 Recap

The Texas Tech University Regional Teaching Sites were busy this summer with many celebrations and events.

Texas Tech University at Waco

Waco Red Raider Rally
TTU at Waco held the Red Raider Rally in August and provided an opportunity for Texas Tech students and alumni in the Waco area to celebrate the upcoming Fall Semester. The Rally also served as a send off party for incoming freshmen that were both going to TTU in Lubbock and TTU at Waco. Thank you to Cary Hobbs for hosting the event.

Summer Bash and Cookout
Waco Red Raiders also got to enjoy a summer cookout that included swimming, food, games and prizes. Varsity Bookstore from Lubbock even came out to Waco to provide school supplies and Texas Tech gear.

Graduation Celebration
Texas Tech University at Waco celebrated their largest graduating class to date with 18 graduates this May. Congratulations to all of these new alumni! Your Red Raider family will be here supporting you every step of the way.

Texas Tech University at Collin Higher Education Center

Incoming Freshmen Scholarship Reception
The Texas Tech Alumni Association of Dallas held a scholarship reception for incoming Texas Tech University freshmen from the McKinney area. Andrew Fowler received a scholarship at the reception and said, "It was awesome to be able to have Red Raiders in the area that I live in send me off."

Recruiting Throughout Summer
Andi West, TTU at Collin Academic Advisor and Recruiter, spent the summer at various community colleges in the Dallas/Fort Worth area, speaking to students about the possibility of transferring to Texas Tech. We appreciate Andi and all of her hard work for Texas Tech and our students.

Texas Tech University at Fredericksburg

School of Art Student Art Exhibition
Texas Tech University at Fredericksburg held an art showcase that featured students of the Texas Tech University School of Art Master of Art Education program. The community was able to come and appreciate the art while refreshments were served.

Hill Country Food Truck Festival
TTU at Fredericksburg participated in the Hill Country Food Truck Festival. Proceeds benefited the Texas Center for Wine and Culinary Arts, an approximately 15,000 square foot educational facility which will be built in Fredericksburg, the hub of the wine industry in the Texas Hill Country.

Graduation Reception
Texas Tech University at Fredericksburg and Texas Tech University at Highland Lakes held a joint graduation reception at TTU at Fredericksburg for their Spring 2017 graduates. Texas Tech University President Lawrence Schovanec and Provost Michael Galyean came out to support the students as well. The graduates were able to give speeches about their time studying at the TTU regional sites while friends and family were in attendance.

Texas Tech University at Highland Lakes

Blanco County Rodeo Parade
TTU at Highland Lakes participated in the Blanco County Rodeo Parade. Their float featured everyone's favorite mascot and plenty of Red Raider pride!

Texas Tech University at Hill College

New Academic Advisor: Penny Morrison
Penny Morrison is now serving as the academic advisor at TTU at Hill College. She was raised in Cleburne and has built her career in public education. We are excited to welcome her aboard and to see Texas Tech grow in the Cleburne area!

Texas Tech University Center at Junction

TTU K-12 Brazilian Students Come to Junction
TTU at Junction hosted 21 Texas Tech University K-12 students from Rio, Brazil, at the Outdoor School for a two-day camp. The students were able to learn about nature first-hand while enjoying other fun activities like kayaking.
