Dr. Pihlaja studies how Activity Theory and Actor-Network Theory might be used to study the impact that tools like WhatsApp and email have on these kinds of intercultural collaborations. Dr. Pihlaja received his PhD in Rhetoric and Composition from the Department of English, University of Texas at El Paso. He has experience teaching in international contexts, most extensively in south Asia.
