Donating to New Endowments
If you would like to aim to create an endowment that carries your name or a name you designate, you can contribute over time until you reach that goal. (Example: The William Wilbanks Scholarship in Technical Communication.) When you are the primary donor to an endowed fund, you can also direct how the fund will be used. An endowment requires a minimum of $10,000 before it can generate spendable funds. If your employer matches donations, you could achieve that goal with just $5,000. We would appreciate knowing your intention to create a separate endowment when you send your first gift so that we don't count it toward the general endowment. Please contact the department chair or a professor who can advise you.
