Introduction to Creative Writing

Brent Newsom

In this course, we will focus our energies on composing and revising poems and short stories (fictional and nonfictional), paying special attention to the literary features of each and developing our skills in the craft of writing. This process will involve not only writing but also a good deal of reading the work of both established writers and fellow students. No prior experience writing poetry and fiction is necessary. Prepare yourself to write imaginatively, read thoughtfully, discuss actively, and have fun doing it!
