Usability Research Lab

Since 2002 the Usability Research Lab (URL) at Texas Tech University has generated significant research leading to publications, patents, and funding. In addition, it has served as a training resource for hundreds of students from multiple disciplines.

The core mission of the URL focuses on three important aims:

  1. Cultivate ground-breaking research
  2. Provide effective usability-related services to clients
  3. Teach students to understand and practice usability fundamental concepts and methods.

Apply to become the next Assistant Director for the URL

The URL provides a lab appointment, and an enhanced stipend, for an eligible PhD student interested in serving as Assistant Director of the URL. Previous URL Assistant Directors have gone on to successful work in industry and academia. EyeguideGrinbath’s Eyeguide Mobile Tracker Now on the Market

Grinbath, a startup that spun off from research begun in the URL in 2010, has begun selling its latest product, the Eyeguide Mobile Tracker. The Eyeguide Mobile Tracker allows researchers to conduct experiments in the field, even view what users see as they see it.
