Types Of Financial Aid

Grants (Federal, State, and Institutional)

Grants are awarded based the student's completed FAFSA data and calculated need. Additional requirements may exist for certain grant types. Student Financial Aid will award all eligible students any grant amount that they may qualify for.

Federal Pell Grant

Students working on their first undergraduate degree with EFC in qualifying range.

$555-$5550 for 2010-2011(based on EFC, enrolled hours, and federal pell schedule)

Federal SEOG (Supplemental Education Opportunity Grant)

High need students working on their first undergraduate degree.

$200-$4000 (based on enrolled hours and availability of funds)

TPEG (Texas Public Education Grant)

Resident and non-resident, undergraduate and graduate students enrolled at least half time.

$100-$3500 (based on need eligibility and enrolled hours)

TEXAS Grant

Texas resident, first-time undergraduates who graduated from an accredited TX high school with the Recommended or Distinguished curriculum, enrolled full time each semester. Transfer students will need to self identify to regain eligibility.

TTU Grant

Resident and non-resident undergraduate students enrolled at least three-quarter time (9 hours).

Amounts vary based on the availability of funds.

Federal TEACH Grant

Students enrolled in an eligible Teacher certificate program (concentration must be in a high-need field), with a gpa of 3.25 of higher.

$4000 (pending approval by the College of Education, Federal Agreement to Serve, and Entrance Counseling)

Top Ten Percent Scholarship

To be eligible a student must:

  • Be a Texas resident
  • Demonstrate financial need as defined by this program (although there is a need criterion, the award amount is not limited by the student’s need)
  • Cost of Attendance – (EFC + Pell) > $0
  • Complete a non-rejected FAFSA or TAFSA by March 15*; and
  • Student is eligible if FAFSA completed by March 15 even if student has not added school to FAFSA.
  • Enroll full-time in a Texas public two-year or four-year college or university in the fall semester.


$2,000 unless the student is classified as a junior or senior with a declared major in a critical workforce shortage field, in which case the student may be eligible for a bonus of $2,000. All awards through this program are for the fall semester only.
