Expectations

President

  • Serve as primary point of contact in all Fraternity & Sorority Life business
  • Schedule meetings for Visiting Consultants or HQ staff
  • Serve as point of contact during any period of Crisis Management
  • File all requested reports in a timely manner

New Member Educator 

  • Communicate with your council advisor prior to any pledging period 
  • File a copy of your New Member Education calendar with your council advisor ahead of any pledging period
  • Educate all new members on chapter, council and community standards  
  • Attend New Member Educators Workshop

Risk/Social

  • Promote attendance at all required Clay R. Warren programming provided
  • Educate all members of the organization on minimum social event standards (FIPG) 
  • Ensure all events of a social nature are planned appropriately with ample time to ask for assistance from council advisor if needed

Standards/Judicial

  • Communicate organization and community values and expectations to all members
  • Educate members on the standards/judicial process used by your organization. 
  • Connect all members to campus resources to assist in correcting behaviors
  • Prevent members of our organization from retaliating or discriminating against any member who intervenes or assists in accountability measures 

Delegate

  • Attend weekly/biweekly meetings hosted by your council 
  • Relay all information presented by FSL and the council to the executive board and organization members
  • Cast the vote of your organization on all business proposed to the delegation

Advisor

  • Provide sound adult guidance
  • Make regular contact with organization leadership 
  • Attend monthly advisor meetings hosted by FSL
  • Attend yearly Clay R. Warren Risk Education Training  

Chapter Operations

FSL Officer Records

  • Roster Updates - completed at the beginning and end of each term. The addition and removal of members is critical to maintain accurate academic records. 
  • Officer Updates - completed at the end of each term and anytime a President, treasurer or faculty/staff advisor is replaced.
  • Student Organization Renewal - completed at the end of each term to remain recognized by the University. 
  • Grade Reports - completed for each of the long semesters. Community reports are released each July and February. Individual member detailed reports are released only to the organization president and advisor.

Response & Reporting 

  • Student Handbook and Code of Conduct - regulations and/or standards by which students at Texas Tech University abide and procedures by which its organization functions.
  • Reporting Options - Organizations are offered an opportunity to partner in the self-reporting of any organization misconduct.

  • Crisis Management - Organization are encouraged to follow any outlined crisis management plan provided by their national organization when supplied. 
  • Amnesty Policy (Section A, 12. Amnesty) - The University will provide educational options in lieu of conduct proceedings in certain situations. 
  • Bystander Intervention - a Bystander is anyone who observes an emergency or any situation where someone is in need of help. 'Bystander Intervention' is simply when a Bystander makes the decision to get involved and intervene in the situation.
  • Sexual Misconduct - Organizations at Texas Tech are responsible for educating members on sexual misconduct and Title IX topics to ensure proper resources and reporting are provided to those who experience unlawful discrimination.

  • New Member Education - Program Planning 

    FSL thoroughly believes in educational sanctions to help remedy the source of the problem rather than punitive sanctions to remedy an occurrence. 
  • MGC/NPHC Membership Intake Policy

    MGC/NPHC organizations do not have a defined start and end date in the intake and new member education period within each term. To maintain record of an organization's progress toward adding additional members and ensure events associated with intake and education are appropriate and within national policies, the MGC/NPHC Membership Intake Guide is to be completed by any organization approaching a period of intake.
