Summary 

This layer contains a detailed boundary of Texas with counties. This polygon file was designed for small to medium scale thematic mapping and analysis.

Description 

            

              

                

                  

                    The spatial data were obtained from the Texas Natural Resources Information System (TNRIS) StratMap program and are current as of 1995. Geoprocessing was performed to merge all 254 Texas county layers into one, and then dissolve the counties into one polygon for the state. Attributes were modified to include only county name, state abbreviation, and FIPS code information. The coordinate system of this data is WGS 1984.
