This layer contains roads that are part of the Federal Interstate Highway System in the US. This line file is intended for small scale thematic mapping and analysis.
The spatial data were obtained from Natural Earth. The major and supplementary North American road datasets were downloaded from Natural Earth and processed further by the Texas Tech Center for Geospatial Technology. Geoprocessing was performed to clip the North American roads to the NE 1:10,000,000 US boundary and classify them by type. The major highways and beltways were selected and exported. Features were edited to include only roads that are a part of the Intestate Highway system. The attributes were modified to include scalerank, type, edit information, name(s), length, toll designation, original part, prefix, expressway designation, and level. The coordinate system of this data is WGS 1984.
