The Geoscience Society

The Geoscience Society is the uniting body for all students within the Geoscience Department. Undergraduate and graduate geology, geophysics, and atmospheric science students are all involved. We also encourage membership from students who are science education majors, as well as other student who are interested in geosciences.

The Geoscience Society promotes involvement both within the department as well as outside of the classroom. Each semester the Geoscience Society sponsors various field trips and parties. Recent trips include camping excursions to Bandelier National Monument, Carlsbad Caverns, and Guadalupe Mts. National Park. In addition to leisure activities, we also participate in numerous service projects within the community, including the Tech Can Share Food Drive and the Lubbock Lions Club Pancake Festival. The Geoscience Society is a great student organization that is beneficial to the Geoscience Department, Texas Tech students and professors, and the local community.


Membership Information:

Dues: $5 per semester
Requirements: One must be a student enrolled in Texas Tech University and must either express interest in the geosciences or be a major in an earth science.
