Program Description

The profession of chemical engineering combines the principles of physical and chemical sciences with the discipline of engineering to solve modern technological problems and be of effective service to society. The chemical engineer is largely responsible for the continual development of new processes and new products that have a direct impact on improving the quality of life and the environment. To this end, the department provides a broad-based program with individual, academic, and professional counseling. The Graduate Program in Texas Tech’s Department of Chemical Engineering is dynamic and internationally visible. The faculty and graduate students carry out federal, state and industrially funded research with a mix of experimental and theoretical/computational approaches to these subjects.

Recommendation Letter Instructions: All letters of recommendation will be submitted online after you have submitted the names and email addresses of your recommenders through our application system.

Departmental Application Required: Yes

Departmental Application Instructions: Your application to graduate school will be processed through the Texas Tech Graduate School Office of Admissions. Follow the instructions given on the Office of Admissions how to page. To be considered for graduate admissions at Texas Tech, you will need to submit the application form, $60 application fee, and your official GRE scores and college transcripts to the Graduate School Office of Admissions. If you are an international applicant, you must also submit your official TOEFL scores to the Graduate School Office of Admissions. In addition to the GRE scores, college transcripts (and TOEFL scores), the Department of Chemical Engineering requires a statement of purpose, 3 letters of recommendation and your resume. Your application will be evaluated by the Graduate Committee in the Department of Chemical Engineering.

How To Apply

1) Apply to Graduate School : Fill out the online application at Apply Texas.

2) Pay your application fee: $60 initial application fee, $50 for each subsequent application (including changes of entry date, add/change program, or readmission). Application fees may be paid via ApplyTexas at the time of application submission or by credit card on our website.

3) Contact the Graduate Program Coordinator in your prospective department. Many departments have separate application requirements and deadlines, and the Graduate Program Coordinator will be able to assist you in your application process.

4) Send application requirements, from all of the colleges and universities that you have attended to Texas Tech University Graduate School.
