Master of Science in Atmospheric Science


Program Description

The masters degree in atmospheric science provides the student with a comprehensive treatment of the dynamics describing the current and future atmospheric state using theory, observations, and numerical modeling. The curriculum is comprised of a minimum of 30 hours of graduate-level coursework, 4 hours of seminar credit, and 6 hours of thesis credit. Students are expected to complete a thesis project as part of the degree requirements.

Recommendation Letter Instructions: At least three recommendations using the Department of Geosciences Letter of Recommendation Form. Referees may submit the Recommendation Form and Letters via email. However, hard copies of recommendation forms and letters should be sent to the Graduate Advisor:

The Office of Graduate and International Admissions does not have a specific deadline for domestic applications; we strongly recommend that you have all of the required application materials in by the date listed below.

How To Apply


1) Apply to Graduate School : Fill out the online application at Apply Texas.

2) Pay your application fee: $60 initial application fee, $50 for each subsequent application (including changes of entry date, add/change program, or readmission). Application fees may be paid via ApplyTexas at the time of application submission or by credit card on our website.

3) Contact the Graduate Program Coordinator in your prospective department. Many departments have separate application requirements and deadlines, and the Graduate Program Coordinator will be able to assist you in your application process.

4) Send application requirements, from all of the colleges and universities that you have attended to Texas Tech University Graduate School.
